Delhi, NCR Air Pollution Latest News: The Delhi government has declared an early winter recess for schools due to the ongoing severe air quality conditions.

In light of the persistently high levels of air pollution in the national capital, the Supreme Court issued a directive on Tuesday, instructing the Punjab government to cease the practice of stubble burning. Additionally, the apex court directed the states of Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan to immediately halt stubble burning. At 6 am on Wednesday, the overall air quality in Delhi was still categorized as ‘very poor,’ based on data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 356, having previously surpassed 400 (reaching the ‘severe’ category) in recent days. Currently, Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been put into effect in the national capital due to the city’s air quality deteriorating to the ‘severe plus’ category.
